How to Make Chicken Onigiri

Follow these simple steps to prepare this delicious dish:

Step 1: Prepare the Chicken
Start by cooking your chicken breasts. Place them in a pot with enough water to cover them completely. Bring the water to a boil and simmer for about 15-20 minutes until they're fully cooked and tender. Pro tip: You can add salt or herbs to enhance flavor while boiling!

Step 2: Shred the Chicken
Once the chicken has cooled slightly, shred it into small pieces using two forks or your hands if you’re feeling adventurous. Set aside those shreds of goodness.

Step 3: Make the Sauce
In a small bowl, combine soy sauce and sugar until dissolved. Pour this mixture over the shredded chicken and stir well until every piece is coated in that umami goodness.

Step 4: Cook the Rice
Rinse about two cups of sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Cook it according to package instructions—usually about 20 minutes—until tender and sticky. Add rice vinegar once it's done cooking for that authentic sushi rice flavor.

Step 5: Form the Onigiri
With wet hands (this helps with stickiness), take a handful of warm rice and flatten it out in your palm. Spoon some of the chicken mixture into the center and then mold the rice around it into a triangle shape or ball—whatever tickles your fancy!

Step 6: Serve
Place your beautifully shaped Chicken Onigiri on a plate and serve with extra soy sauce on the side if you're feeling saucy! These bites are best enjoyed fresh but can be wrapped in plastic wrap for later enjoyment.
Now you're ready to impress everyone at your next gathering or just indulge yourself—because let’s be honest, who doesn't deserve a tasty treat after a long day? Enjoy!
