Description

These spooky skull-shaped mashed potatoes are a fun and festive addition to your Halloween spread. Creamy, flavorful, and delightfully eerie, they're sure to impress your guests!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large russet potatoes
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Black olives (for decoration)
  • Fresh chives or green onions (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Potatoes: Peel and chop the potatoes into chunks. Place them in a pot of salted water and bring to a boil. Cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  2. Mash: Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add the heavy cream, melted butter, salt, and pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.
  3. Shape into Skulls: Using a skull mold or by hand, shape the mashed potatoes into skull forms. If using a mold, pack the potatoes tightly, then carefully remove.
  4. Decorate: Slice black olives into small circles for eyes and place them on the skulls. You can also use additional olives to create a mouth or other facial features.
  5. Serve: Garnish with fresh chives or green onions, if desired. Serve warm as a spooky side dish!

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider adding garlic powder or shredded cheese to the mashed potatoes.
  • You can also use food coloring to tint the potatoes a creepy hue for added effect.
