  • Author: JANE PHYLLIS
  • Total Time: 15 minutes

Description

A festive and sparkling treat perfect for snacking, garnishing desserts, or decorating holiday tables. These tangy-sweet cranberries coated in sugar bring the perfect crunch and burst of flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Optional: a pinch of fine sugar for extra sparkle

Instructions

    1. Prepare the syrup: In a saucepan, combine water and 1/2 cup sugar. Heat on medium until the sugar dissolves completely (do not boil). Remove from heat.
    2. Coat the cranberries: Add the cranberries to the syrup, ensuring they're fully coated. Let them soak for 5-10 minutes.
    3. Dry the cranberries: Remove cranberries with a slotted spoon and place them on a wire rack or parchment-lined baking sheet. Allow them to dry for 1 hour until tacky.
    4. Sugar coat: Roll the cranberries in the remaining granulated sugar until evenly coated. For extra sparkle, sprinkle a pinch of fine sugar over them.
    5. Let them dry completely before serving or storing.
