  • Author: my aunty recipes

Description

Indulge in the rich, nutty sweetness of homemade praline sauce. Perfect for drizzling over desserts like ice cream, pancakes, and cakes, this sauce combines caramelized sugar with crunchy nuts for a deliciously decadent treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans (or almonds)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

  • Melt the Sugar: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt 1 cup of granulated sugar. Stir occasionally until the sugar turns a light amber color. Be careful not to burn it.
  • Add the Cream: Slowly pour in 1/2 cup of heavy cream, stirring continuously. The mixture will bubble up, so be cautious!
  • Incorporate Nuts: Once combined and smooth, add 1/2 cup of chopped pecans. Stir well to distribute the nuts throughout the sauce.
  • Finish with Butter and Flavor: Reduce the heat to low and add 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter, stirring until melted. Then mix in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and a pinch of salt for balance.
  • Cool and Store: Allow the sauce to cool slightly before transferring it to an airtight container. It will thicken as it cools

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, consider toasting the nuts before adding them to the sauce.
  • If the sauce thickens too much, reheat gently and stir in a little more cream to reach your desired consistency.
