Description

This Easy One Pan Blackened Cod recipe is a quick and flavorful dinner perfect for weeknights. Coated in bold Cajun spices, the cod is seared to perfection in just one pan, delivering a smoky, spicy crust with tender, flaky fish inside. Minimal cleanup and maximum taste!

Ingredients

  • Cod Fillets: 4 pieces (about 6 ounces each)
  • Olive Oil: 2 tablespoons
  • Cajun Seasoning: 2 tablespoons
  • Paprika: 1 teaspoon (optional, for extra color)
  • Lemon Juice: 2 tablespoons
  • Salt and Pepper: To taste

Instructions

  • Prepare the Fish: Pat cod fillets dry with paper towels. Rub each fillet with olive oil and coat evenly with Cajun seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  • Heat the Pan: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and drizzle with 1 tablespoon of olive oil.
  • Cook the Cod: Place seasoned cod fillets in the pan. Sear for 3-4 minutes on one side until a dark crust forms. Flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the fish flakes easily with a fork.
  • Finish with Lemon: Drizzle freshly squeezed lemon juice over the cod before serving.

Notes

  • Use non-stick or cast iron skillets for best results.
  • Adjust spice levels by increasing or reducing Cajun seasoning.
  • Pair with rice, steamed veggies, or a light salad for a complete meal.
