Description

Meatball subs are a comforting and delicious sandwich, filled with savory homemade meatballs, marinara sauce, and melted cheese. Perfect for a hearty lunch or dinner, this classic dish is sure to satisfy your cravings!


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 tablespoon dried Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 4 sub rolls
  • 1 1/2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a bowl, combine ground meat, breadcrumbs, egg, Parmesan, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Form into 12-16 meatballs.
  • Bake meatballs on a baking sheet for 15-20 minutes, until fully cooked.
  • While meatballs are baking, heat marinara sauce in a pan.
  • Place baked meatballs in the sauce, then spoon into sub rolls. Top with mozzarella cheese.
  • Return the subs to the oven for 5-7 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Notes

For a healthier version, use ground turkey or chicken instead of beef.
You can also add extra veggies like bell peppers or onions to the sauce for added flavor.
