Ingredients
Scale
- 2 1/2 cups (315g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 3/4 cups (350g) granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup (240ml) milk
- 1/4 cup (30g) cocoa powder
- 3 tbsp hot water
Instructions
- Prepare Batter: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a loaf or bundt pan. Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In a separate bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well. Stir in vanilla. Alternately add dry ingredients and milk to the wet mixture, beginning and ending with dry.
- Make Chocolate Batter: Divide the batter in half. In one portion, mix cocoa powder and hot water until smooth, then fold into the batter.
- Create Marble Effect: Pour alternating spoonfuls of vanilla and chocolate batter into the prepared pan. Swirl gently with a knife for a marbled effect.
- Bake: Bake for 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Notes
- For deeper chocolate flavor, add a teaspoon of espresso powder to the cocoa mix.
- Avoid over-swirling to maintain distinct marble patterns.
