- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven:
- Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract and mix until combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing just until combined.
- Stir in the oats, chocolate chips, and nuts (if using).
- Shape and Bake:
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown but the centers are still soft.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
- Serve:
- Enjoy these cookies warm or at room temperature with a glass of milk or your favorite beverage.
Notes
- For added flavor, you can sprinkle a little sea salt on top of the cookies before baking.
- If you prefer a chewier texture, slightly underbake the cookies and let them finish cooking on the baking sheet.
