Description

Thanksgiving Brioche Donuts are a delightful holiday treat that combines the soft, pillowy texture of brioche with the warm flavors of cinnamon and nutmeg. These homemade donuts fill your kitchen with a delicious aroma, making them perfect for brunch or as a festive dessert. Enjoy them fresh out of the fryer, rolled in cinnamon sugar, or dressed up with icing for an extra special touch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups brioche dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Oil for frying (neutral oil)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough: If using homemade brioche, combine flour, yeast, sugar, eggs, milk, and melted butter. Knead until smooth and let rise until doubled in size (about 1 hour). If using store-bought dough, allow it to rise as per the package instructions.
  2. Flavor it up: Once risen, punch down the dough and knead in nutmeg and cinnamon until evenly distributed.
  3. Shape donuts: Roll out dough to 1/2 inch thick on a floured surface. Cut out donut shapes using a donut cutter or two round cutters.
  4. Fry: Heat oil in a deep pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry donuts one at a time for about 2 minutes per side until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  5. Sweeten: While warm, toss in sugar mixed with cinnamon or drizzle with icing if desired.
  6. Serve & enjoy: Arrange on a platter and serve fresh.
