Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and both sugars until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla; mix until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients until fully combined.
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill for at least one hour.
- Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick and cut into shapes.
- Place cutouts on parchment-lined baking sheets and bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
- Cool completely before decorating with royal icing and food coloring.
