Ingredients

Scale
  • All-purpose flour
  • Baking powder
  • Granulated sugar
  • Ground cinnamon
  • Salt
  • Unsalted butter
  • Whole milk

For the cream cheese frosting

  • 8 oz (226 g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup (113 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cups (360 g) powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a muffin tin by greasing it or lining it with paper liners.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, melt the butter and mix in the milk. Combine this mixture with the dry ingredients until just mixed—avoid overmixing.
  4. Divide the dough into small balls and roll each in a cinnamon-sugar mixture before placing them in the muffin tin.
  5. Bake for 18-20 minutes until golden brown. Allow to cool slightly before enjoying warm.
  6. Make the cream cheese frosting: beat the cream cheese and softened butter together until completely smooth, then add the sifted powdered sugar a cup at a time on low speed. Beat in the vanilla and continue for 1 minute more, until light and spreadable. Frost only once the bake has cooled completely.
