  • Author: my aunty recipes
  • Total Time: 1 minute

Description

A simple, sweet, and savory dish that’s perfect for busy nights. Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken combines tender chicken with a flavorful honey garlic sauce that cooks itself while you go about your day. Serve it over rice, noodles, or with roasted vegetables for an easy and delicious meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5 lbs)
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Season the Chicken: Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
  • Make the Sauce: In a bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, garlic, oregano, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  • Prepare the Slow Cooker: Place the chicken breasts in the slow cooker and pour the honey garlic sauce over the top, making sure the chicken is well-coated.
  • Cook: Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours or on high for 2-3 hours, until the chicken is tender and easily shred-able.
  • Shred and Serve: Remove the chicken from the slow cooker and shred with a fork. Return the shredded chicken to the sauce and mix well.
  • Serve: Serve the chicken over rice, noodles, or with your favorite sides. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Chicken Thighs: For a juicier option, you can use boneless, skinless chicken thighs instead of breasts. The cooking time may be slightly shorter.
  • Sweetness Adjustment: If you prefer a sweeter sauce, add an extra tablespoon of honey. If you want a tangier sauce, increase the vinegar by a teaspoon.
  • Storage: Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
