Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Brownie Base:
    • 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks), melted
    • 2 cups granulated sugar
    • 4 large eggs
    • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
    • 1 cup all-purpose flour
    • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder
    • ½ teaspoon salt
  • For the Cinnamon Swirl:
    • ½ cup granulated sugar
    • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • For the Glaze:
    • 1 cup powdered sugar
    • 2-3 tablespoons milk (or as needed)
    • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
  • Make the Brownie Batter: In a large bowl, combine melted butter and sugar. Whisk in the eggs and vanilla until smooth. In a separate bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  • Create the Cinnamon Swirl: In a small bowl, mix together granulated sugar and cinnamon.
  • Assemble the Brownies: Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture over it. Pour the remaining brownie batter on top and finish with the rest of the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Use a knife to swirl gently.
  • Bake: Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Make the Glaze: While the brownies cool, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Adjust the milk to achieve desired consistency.
  • Glaze the Brownies: Once the brownies have cooled for about 15 minutes, drizzle the glaze over the top. Allow them to cool completely before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • For added richness, consider folding in chocolate chips or nuts.
  • Allow brownies to cool completely for easier slicing.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days
