This creamy and delicious tuna pasta bake is a quick and healthy dinner option that you can prepare in just 30 minutes! Loaded with flaky tuna, a creamy sauce, and tender pasta, it’s the perfect comfort food for any night of the week.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz (225g) pasta (such as penne or fusilli)
  • 1 can (5 oz) tuna in water, drained
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 cup low-fat Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup low-fat milk
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Cook the pasta according to the package instructions, then drain and set aside.
  • Sauté the onion and garlic: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook for 3-4 minutes until softened. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
  • Make the creamy sauce: Stir in the Greek yogurt, low-fat milk, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Let the mixture simmer for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Combine: Add the drained tuna and cooked pasta to the skillet, mixing everything together. Once well combined, transfer the mixture to a baking dish.
  • Top with cheese and breadcrumbs: Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top, followed by breadcrumbs if using.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
  • Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

  • You can use whole wheat pasta or gluten-free pasta for a healthier or dietary preference.
  • For a richer flavor, you can replace the low-fat yogurt with sour cream, though it will add more calories.
  • Feel free to add veggies like spinach or peas to boost the nutrition content.
