Description

These spooky Halloween Spider Cookies are a fun and easy treat! Soft chocolate cookies topped with a peanut butter cup "spider" will give your Halloween party a creepy, delicious touch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 24 mini peanut butter cups
  • 1/4 cup melted chocolate or chocolate frosting (for spider legs)
  • 48 candy eyes

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the Dough: In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. In a separate bowl, beat the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until creamy. Add the egg and vanilla extract and beat again until smooth.
  3. Combine: Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until a soft dough forms.
  4. Shape the Cookies: Scoop out small balls of dough (about 1 tablespoon each) and place them on the prepared baking sheet. Flatten slightly with your palm.
  5. Bake: Bake for 8-10 minutes or until set. Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool slightly.
  6. Add the Spiders: While the cookies are still warm, gently press a mini peanut butter cup onto the center of each cookie. Let cool completely so the peanut butter cup sticks.
  7. Decorate the Spiders: Once the cookies are cool, use melted chocolate or chocolate frosting to pipe 8 spider legs around each peanut butter cup. Attach two candy eyes to each "spider" using a tiny bit of melted chocolate.
  8. Serve: Let the chocolate set before serving your spooky spider cookies.

Notes

  • For a nut-free version, use mini chocolate truffles or candy in place of peanut butter cups.
