  • Author: Patricia Moore

Description

Golden Halloumi with Honey and Thyme is a simple yet sophisticated dish featuring crispy, golden-brown halloumi paired with a sweet honey glaze and aromatic thyme. Perfect as an appetizer or a light main course, this dish balances savory, sweet, and herby flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz halloumi cheese
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp fresh thyme (or 1 tsp dried thyme)
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp water
  • Fresh thyme sprigs (for garnish)
  • Optional: Crushed walnuts or pecans for garnish

Instructions

  • Prepare the Halloumi: Slice the halloumi into 1/2-inch thick slices.
  • Pan-Fry the Halloumi: Heat olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add halloumi slices and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
  • Make the Honey Glaze: In a small saucepan, combine honey, lemon juice, and water over low heat. Stir until smooth and warmed through. Optional: Add fresh thyme to the glaze for extra flavor.
  • Serve: Arrange the fried halloumi on a platter and drizzle with the honey glaze. Garnish with fresh thyme and optional crushed nuts.

Notes

  • Halloumi is best served immediately while crispy.
  • You can grill the halloumi instead of frying for a smoky flavor.
  • Adjust the amount of honey to your desired sweetness.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 2 days and reheat in a skillet to restore some crispiness.
