Description

Fresh blueberry sauce is a vibrant, sweet-tart topping that's perfect for enhancing pancakes, desserts, and yogurt. Quick and easy to make, this sauce brings the flavor of summer to your table year-round.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh blueberries (or frozen)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • 1 tablespoon water (if using cornstarch)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Berries: If using fresh blueberries, rinse them under cold water and remove any stems. If using frozen blueberries, thaw them and drain excess liquid.
  • Combine Ingredients: In a medium saucepan, combine the blueberries, sugar, and lemon juice. Stir gently to mix.
  • Cook the Sauce: Place the saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the blueberries begin to release their juices and the mixture starts to bubble, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Thicken (Optional): If you prefer a thicker sauce, mix the cornstarch with water in a small bowl until smooth. Add this mixture to the simmering sauce and stir well. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until thickened.
  • Cool and Serve: Remove from heat and let the sauce cool slightly before serving. It can be served warm or chilled.

Notes

  • Adjust the sugar according to the sweetness of your blueberries and personal preference.
  • For a smoother sauce, blend it using an immersion blender after cooking.
