These Fluffy Orange Cinnamon Rolls are soft, fluffy, and bursting with citrus flavor, filled with cinnamon and sugar, and topped with a creamy orange glaze for a perfect breakfast treat.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Dough

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk (warm)
  • 1/2 cup orange juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)

For the Filling

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • Zest of 1 orange

For the Orange Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest

Instructions

  • Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, sugar, instant yeast, and salt. In a separate bowl, whisk together warm milk, orange juice, melted butter, and eggs. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until combined. Gradually add the remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, until a soft dough forms.
  • Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • Make the Filling: In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, cinnamon, softened butter, and orange zest until combined.
  • Roll Out the Dough: After the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle (about 16x12 inches).
  • Add Filling: Spread the cinnamon filling evenly over the dough. Starting from the long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Pinch the seam to seal.
  • Cut the Rolls: Cut the log into 12 equal pieces. Place them in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Cover and let them rise again for about 30-45 minutes until puffy.
  • Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Bake the Rolls: Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Let them cool slightly in the pan.
  • Prepare the Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, orange juice, and zest until smooth. Drizzle the glaze over the warm rolls.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider adding chopped nuts or raisins to the filling.
  • These rolls are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
