Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup lukewarm water
  • 2 cups fresh cherries, pitted and chopped
  • 1/4 cup sugar

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix flour and salt; create a well and add egg and lukewarm water. Combine to form soft dough.
  2. Knead on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Cover with plastic wrap and let rest for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Mix chopped cherries with sugar in another bowl.
  4. Roll out the rested dough to about 1/8 inch thick; cut into circles using a round cutter.
  5. Place one tablespoon of cherry filling on each circle, fold over, and pinch edges tightly to seal.
  6. Boil dumplings in salted water until they float (about 3 minutes). Serve warm.

Notes

Use ripe cherries for the best flavor; frozen cherries can also work but may be juicier.

Add spices like cinnamon or vanilla extract to enhance the filling's flavor.
