  • Author: Patricia Moore
  • Total Time: 30 minutes

Description

These Easy Baked Churro Donuts are a delightful twist on the classic churro, baked instead of fried for a lighter, healthier treat. Soft, fluffy donuts are coated in a generous layer of cinnamon sugar for the perfect sweet and spiced flavor. Whether you're serving them for breakfast, a snack, or dessert, these donuts are sure to be a hit with family and friends!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Donuts:

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • ¾ cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 2 tbsp melted butter (or vegetable oil)

For the Cinnamon Sugar Coating:

  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a donut pan.

Mix the dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.

Mix the wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk the sugar, egg, milk, and melted butter until combined.

Combine wet and dry ingredients: Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix to keep the donuts light and fluffy.

Fill the donut pan: Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about ¾ full.

Bake the donuts: Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Coat in cinnamon sugar: While the donuts bake, combine the sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Once the donuts have cooled for a few minutes, roll each donut in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until evenly coated.

Notes

  • If you don't have a donut pan, you can also bake the batter in a muffin tin. The shape will be different, but they'll still be delicious!
  • Make sure to allow the donuts to cool for a few minutes before coating them in the cinnamon sugar so it sticks better.
  • You can store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or freeze them for longer storage.
