How to Make Perfect Deep Fried Oreos at Home

  • Author: my aunty recipes
  • Total Time: 9 minute

Description

Short Description: Deep Fried Oreos are a delicious fair food favorite made by coating Oreo cookies in a crispy batter and frying them to golden perfection. The result? A warm, gooey, chocolaty treat with a crispy exterior that’s perfect for any sweet craving or party snack!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pack of Oreos (regular or golden)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk (whole milk or almond milk)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (optional for flavor)
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola oil works best)
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Prepare the batter: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon (optional). In a separate bowl, beat the egg, then add milk and vanilla extract. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and whisk until smooth. The batter should be thick enough to coat the Oreos.
  2. Heat the oil: In a large pot or deep fryer, heat oil to 375°F (190°C). You can test the temperature by dropping a small spoonful of batter into the oil—if it sizzles and floats to the top, the oil is ready.
  3. Dip the Oreos: Using tongs or a fork, dip each Oreo into the batter, ensuring it's fully coated. Let the excess batter drip off before gently lowering the Oreo into the hot oil.
  4. Fry the Oreos: Fry 2-3 Oreos at a time, ensuring they are not overcrowded. Cook for about 2-3 minutes or until the Oreos are golden brown and crispy on the outside.
  5. Drain and serve: Remove the Oreos from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil. Dust with powdered sugar while still warm for that classic fair-food finish.
  6. Serve: Serve immediately with a side of chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, or whipped cream for dipping.

Notes

  • Batter Consistency: The batter should be thick enough to coat the Oreos but thin enough to drip off without clumping. If it’s too thick, add a splash more milk; if too thin, add a little more flour.
  • Oil Temperature: Maintaining the right oil temperature is key to crispy Oreos. If the oil is too hot, the batter will burn before the Oreo inside is fully heated. If it's too cold, the Oreos will become greasy and soggy. A thermometer is ideal for ensuring the right temperature.
  • Flavor Variations: You can experiment with different Oreos, such as Golden Oreos, Mint Oreos, or Peanut Butter Oreos, for a unique twist on the classic recipe.
