- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 large egg

Instructions
- Prep the Hot Dogs: Pat the hot dogs dry with a paper towel. Insert wooden skewers into each hot dog.
- Make the Batter: In a mixing bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk and egg. Gradually mix the wet ingredients into the dry until smooth.
- Heat the Oil: In a deep pan, heat oil to 350°F (175°C).
- Coat and Fry: Dip each hot dog into the batter, ensuring it's fully coated. Carefully lower into the hot oil. Fry for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown.
- Drain and Serve: Remove from oil and let drain on paper towels. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces!
