  • For the meatballs:

    • 500 g ground beef
    • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
    • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
    • 1 egg
    • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
    • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (chopped)
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • For the sauce:

    • 1 tablespoon olive oil
    • 1 onion (chopped)
    • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
    • 1 can (400 g) crushed tomatoes
    • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
    • 1 teaspoon sugar
    • Salt and pepper to taste
    • 400 g spaghetti

Instructions

  • Prepare the Meatballs:
In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined. Form into 12 meatballs and set aside.

  • Cook the Meatballs:
In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Cook the meatballs for about 5-7 minutes, turning until browned on all sides. Remove and set aside.

  • Make the Sauce:
In the same skillet, add onion and sauté for 5 minutes until softened. Stir in garlic and cook for another minute. Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, sugar, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.

  • Combine Meatballs and Sauce:
Return the meatballs to the skillet, cover, and let simmer in the sauce for about 20 minutes.

  • Cook the Spaghetti:
Meanwhile, cook spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  • Serve:
Plate the spaghetti and top with meatballs and sauce. Garnish with additional Parmesan and fresh parsley if desired.
