- 1 cup whole milk
- ½ cup vegetable oil

- 1 cup boiling water
For the Peanut Butter Frosting:
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- ¼ cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prepare the Oven and Pans: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Combine Wet Ingredients: Add eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes. Stir in boiling water (the batter will be thin).
- Bake the Cake: Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
- Make the Frosting: In a medium bowl, beat together peanut butter and softened butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, then mix in heavy cream and vanilla extract until smooth and fluffy.
- Assemble the Cake: Once the cakes are completely cooled, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a generous layer of peanut butter frosting on top, then place the second layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake.
