Ingredients

Scale

For the Brownies:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

For the Cream Cheese Filling:

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Prep the Oven and Pan:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  • Make the Brownie Batter:
    • Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat and allow it to cool slightly.
    • In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
    • Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt, then fold into the wet ingredients. Finally, mix in the chocolate chips.
  • Prepare the Cream Cheese Filling:
    • In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until creamy.
  • Assemble the Brownies:
    • Pour about two-thirds of the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly. Spoon dollops of the cream cheese mixture over the brownie batter. Top with the remaining brownie batter and swirl gently with a knife.
  • Bake:
    • Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Cool and Serve:
    • Let the brownies cool in the pan before cutting into squares. Enjoy!

Notes
