Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1/2 cup water (or beef broth)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted (for brushing)
  • Optional toppings: sour cream, salsa, chopped cilantro, jalapeños

Instructions

  • Cook the Filling:
In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add 1 small onion and sauté until softened (about 2-3 minutes). Add 1 lb ground beef, and cook until browned. Stir in taco seasoning and 1/2 cup water. Let simmer for 3-4 minutes until thickened. Stir in 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese and remove from heat.
  • Prepare the Tortillas:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush 4 flour tortillas with melted butter on both sides. Place the tortillas on a baking sheet.
  • Assemble the Tacos:
Spoon the taco filling evenly onto the center of each tortilla. Roll the tortillas tightly, securing the filling inside. Place seam-side down on the baking sheet.
  • Bake:
Bake the stuffed tortillas in the oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden and crispy.
  • Serve:
Let the tacos cool for a couple of minutes, then slice and serve with your favorite toppings, such as sour cream, salsa, or jalapeños.

Notes

  • Make it Spicy: Add sliced jalapeños to the filling or top with hot sauce if you like extra heat.
  • Substitute Meat: You can substitute the ground beef with ground turkey, chicken, or even plant-based ground meat for a lighter or vegetarian version.
  • Tortilla Choice: Use corn tortillas for a gluten-free option, or experiment with spinach tortillas for a fun twist.
  • Make Ahead: You can assemble these tacos a day in advance and refrigerate them until ready to bake.
