Celebrate summer with the vibrant American Flag Cake! Featuring layers of fluffy vanilla cake topped with fresh strawberries and blueberries, this eye-catching dessert beautifully resembles the stars and stripes of the American flag. It's easy to make, delicious, and perfect for Independence Day or any festive gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 cups sliced fresh strawberries
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 2 cups whipped cream (optional for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  3. In another bowl, beat softened butter until creamy. Gradually add sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Alternately add dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Mix gently until combined.
  6. Divide batter evenly between prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow cooling before removing from pans.
  7. To assemble, place one layer on a serving platter, spread whipped cream on top, arrange sliced strawberries as stripes, and top with blueberries in the corner.
