Description

This Bananas Foster Cobbler combines the caramelized sweetness of ripe bananas with a buttery, cinnamon-spiced cobbler topping. Finished with creamy pockets of cream cheese, it’s a delightful dessert that’s both comforting and indulgent.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 4 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Set oven to 400°F (200°C). Spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with baking spray.
  2. Prepare Butter and Batter: Pour melted butter into the dish. In a bowl, whisk together milk, flour, white sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. Pour batter over the butter.
  3. Add Bananas and Walnuts: Sprinkle sliced bananas and chopped walnuts over the batter.
  4. Mix Cream Cheese: Microwave cream cheese until warm. Mix with egg, brown sugar, and vanilla. Spoon this mixture in small pockets over the batter.
  5. Bake: Bake for 40-45 minutes, until golden brown. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Use very ripe bananas for best sweetness and flavor.
  • Ensure not to overmix the batter to keep the texture light.
  • For extra richness, serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
