Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in red food coloring and vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets about two inches apart.
  6. Bake for approximately 10 minutes or until edges are set but centers remain soft.
  7. While cookies cool, beat cream cheese and butter until light and fluffy. Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth.
