Description

These Chocolate Orange Cookies combine the rich, indulgent taste of chocolate with the refreshing zest of orange. Soft, chewy, and packed with flavor, these cookies are perfect for any occasion, from casual snacking to festive gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (dark or milk chocolate)

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Mix Wet Ingredients:
In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg and orange zest, mixing until well combined.
  • Combine Dry Ingredients:
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.
  • Mix Wet and Dry Ingredients:
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until a dough forms.
  • Add Chocolate Chips:
    Fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Shape the Cookies:
Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake the Cookies:
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are firm and the centers are slightly soft. Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For a stronger orange flavor, you can increase the amount of orange zest.
  • Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze them for longer storage.
  • Use a mix of dark and milk chocolate chips for a balanced sweetness or opt for white chocolate chips for a different twist.
