Description

A creamy and crunchy classic, this green bean casserole is the perfect side dish for holidays or weeknight dinners. Made with fresh green beans, a rich mushroom sauce, and a crispy onion topping, it’s as comforting as it is delicious.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 ½ cups crispy fried onions
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Green Beans: Blanch fresh green beans in boiling water for 3–4 minutes, then cool in an ice bath. Drain and set aside.
  2. Make the Sauce: In a bowl, mix cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  3. Assemble: Layer green beans in a baking dish, pour the sauce over, and stir to coat. Top with 1 cup of crispy onions.
  4. Bake: Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25 minutes. Add the remaining onions and bake uncovered for 10 more minutes until golden brown.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, add ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese to the sauce.
  • Substitute fresh green beans with frozen or canned if desired. Adjust cooking time for texture.
  • Make ahead: Assemble without the topping, refrigerate, and bake fresh the next day.
