Ingredients

  • 250g pasta (penne, spaghetti, or your choice)
  • 300g ground beef
  • 1 small onion (chopped)
  • 3 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 2 cups tomato sauce (or marinara sauce)
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Grated Parmesan cheese (for garnish)
  • Fresh basil (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta:
    • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Cook the Beef:
    • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until fragrant and soft.
    • Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula. Season with salt, pepper, oregano, and basil.
  3. Simmer the Sauce:
    • Stir in tomato paste and cook for 1 minute to enhance flavor. Pour in the tomato sauce, reduce the heat to low, and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Adjust seasoning if necessary.
  4. Combine with Pasta:
    • Toss the cooked pasta into the skillet with the beef and tomato sauce, stirring to coat the pasta evenly.
  5. Serve:
    • Serve warm, garnished with grated Parmesan and fresh basil, if desired.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes.
  • You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
