Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth. Beat in the vanilla and eggs, one at a time.
  • Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  • Fold in Chocolate Chips: Gently fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  • Bake: Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake for 9-11 minutes or until edges are golden. Let cool on the sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks.

Notes

  • For chewier cookies, chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking.
  • Feel free to add nuts or swap in dark chocolate for extra richness.
