Ingredients

  • 500 g chicken breast (cut into strips)
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  • Marinate the Chicken:
    Place chicken strips in a bowl and cover with buttermilk. Let marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to tenderize.

  • Prepare the Breading:
    In a shallow dish, mix flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.

  • Coat the Chicken:
    Remove chicken strips from buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each strip in the flour mixture, pressing to adhere.

  • Heat the Oil:
    In a large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat until shimmering (about 180°C or 350°F).

  • Fry the Chicken:
    Carefully add the chicken strips to the hot oil in batches, avoiding overcrowding. Fry for 4-5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towels.

  • Serve:
    Enjoy hot with your favorite dipping sauces like ranch, honey mustard, or BBQ!

Notes

  • For extra crunch, double-dip the chicken by dipping it back in buttermilk and then the flour mixture again before frying.
  • These tenders can be baked at 200°C (400°F) for about 20-25 minutes for a healthier alternative.
